Court documents state Alvin stabbed Ian multiple times in the neck, chest, side and back and Alvin was found by police sitting in a meditation pose on the lawn of the cabin and was cooperative during his arrest. The documents said Alvin stated he did not want to hurt anyone else.

Alvin was held in the Saskatchewan Hospital in North Battleford awaiting trail, and Fox said Alvin understood the verdict.
"His family has tried to be supportive of him and has been supportive of him in a very, very difficult time for the family," Fox said.

Court documents outline Alvin's long history of mental illness that includes 20 admissions to hospital and being diagnosed with schizophrenia, mixed personality disorder and polysubstance abuse where treatments have had limited succes.
In that appearance, Alvin's defence lawyer, Aaron Fox, proved to a judge that Alvin was in a mental state rendering him incapable of appreciating or knowing that what he did was wrong when Ian died.
Almost a year after his father was found dead in an Emma Lake cabin, Alvin Buckwold has been found not criminally responsible for Ian Buckwold's stabbing death.
Court documents also state Alvin had been dealing with delusional thoughts since 2008 and many of these thoughts depicted Ian as the devil. Medication was reported to improve Alvin's thoughts, but not completely get rid of the delusions surrounding his father.
Each year a review board will look at thorough reports of his treatment and condition to determine if he will be released at some point in the future.

In a statement issued to media, Buckwold's family thanked Fox his work over the 11 months since Ian's death.
Although the onus was on Fox to prove that psychiatric problems were at the root of Alvin's actions last summer, the Crown prosecutor agreed with that stance based on available medical information, Fox said.
Ian was found in his Emma Lake residence after Montreal Lake RCMP responded to a complaint of a sudden death on July 14, 2013.
Court documents said according to Alvin he stopped taking his oral antipsychotic medications about four months before he stabbed his father because they made him feel anxious and Alvin had also missed his most recent monthly injection of antipsychotixc medication by a few days.
Alvin was arrested Adidas Basketball Shoes Ghost at the scene, and later charged with second degree murder.
